Artificial Intelligence (AI) is all the rage at right now, with some sectors excited for its potential, whilst others are cautious about job security in the face of latest developments. So, just for fun, we put a chatbot's expertise on event planning to the test. We asked it, 'How can the events industry use artificial intelligence to its advantage?'.

Chatbot response.

As a language model, chatbots can be a valuable tool for people in the event industry. Here are some ways people in the event industry can use AI to their advantage:

Content creation.

AI can be used to generate content for marketing materials, event websites, social media posts, and more. Event planners can input relevant keywords or phrases into a chatbot, and it will generate written content based on those inputs. This can save event planners time and resources by automating the content creation process.

Customer service.

AI can be used as a customer service tool to answer common questions and provide assistance to attendees. By setting up a chatbot that utilizes a chatbot, event planners can provide attendees with 24/7 support, which can improve attendee satisfaction and reduce the workload of event staff.

Audience engagement.

AI can be used to create engaging experiences for attendees. For example, event planners can set up interactive chatbots that allow attendees to participate in quizzes or games related to the event. This can improve attendee engagement and provide a fun and interactive way to learn more about the event.

Event planning.

AI can be used to help with event planning and organisation. For example, event planners can input keywords such as venue, catering, and audio-visual needs, and a chatbot can generate recommendations based on those inputs. This can save time and resources by automating some of the event planning process.

Trend forecasting.

AI can be used to identify emerging trends and topics related to the event industry. By inputting relevant keywords, event planners can receive insights into what attendees may be interested in or expecting from events. This can help event planners stay ahead of the curve and provide unique and relevant experiences for attendees.

By utilizing AI as a tool, event planers can improve the attendee experience, save time and resources, and stay ahead of the curve in the constantly evolving event industry.'

Our take.

The beauty of the events industry is all about people, bringing groups together and sharing experiences. This is something that cannot be replaced with a machine, and whilst it may support with some generic content creation, it’s clear to see how cold the end-result would be without a real human injection and solid knowledge of the project at hand.

Many organisations are already using customer service chatbots, our Meetingspro tool included, to service customers out of hours, and we've already seen how this has enhanced our service as our team have more time to work on larger logistics. Similarly, we can see how using AI to scour the internet for inspiration around catering, AV and trends will save event planners time. But again, it’s up to the event manager to dissect and implement this information as required in live projects.

One crucial factor to remember is that AI uses historical data as its source. It showcases trends based on what has already been shared online about future trends, it doesn’t predict these itself as its intelligence is, as the name suggests, artificial. True innovation and creativity comes from proposing something unique for the future, rather then churning up ideas from the archives.

All in all, we reckon the greatest benefit will undoubtedly be seen where professions integrate the tool to benefit human-led projects, rather than use it to displace employees. It seems we’re a few years off The Matrix or iRobot just yet!
